2025 Spring Recreational Baseball

Player Evaluation Information 

We are offering three options for rec player evaluations this year. Please read the following carefully, as we've made changes to the evaluation requirements compared to previous seasons.

No evaluation needed:
Players in the 5U, 6U, 14U, or High School divisions do not need to attend evaluations.

No evaluation needed for second-year spring players:
Second-year spring players in the 8U, 10U, or 12U divisions do not need to attend evaluations.

Evaluation required for first-year spring players:

First-year spring players in the 8U, 10U, or 12U divisions must attend evaluations. If your child is in one of these divisions this spring and has never played in that division before in a spring season, they will need to attend evaluations. Overview

Mudsock Youth Baseball is a volunteer organization established to provide recreational and travel baseball opportunities to players living within the Hamilton Southeastern School District. Play is offered for athletes in pre-kindergarten through high school.

Divisions
Our recreation league has adopted the rule that we will separate our kids by age. Exceptions will be made for those players wishing to play with players in their grade. To request an exception, please fill out the form here.
5U (5/1/2019 – 4/30/2020)
6U (5/1/2018 – 4/30/2019)
8U (5/1/2016 – 4/30/2018)
10U (5/1/2014 – 4/30/2016)
12U (5/1/2012 – 4/30/2014)
14U (5/1/2010 – 4/30/2012)
High School

Registration Fees

Open registration for spring will be held during the month of January 2025. Registration will be accepted online at www.myathletics.com. Spring fees (early bird pricing) will be as follows: ·       

$165 – 5U, 6U         
$200 – 8U - High School   

There will be a multi-player discount available for families registering three or more children. Early bird pricing will be available during the month of January. Beginning February 1st, registration fees will increase.

Refunds
January 1 – February 15 – Refund after $38 non-refundable is subtracted.
February 16 – March 15 – 50% refund after $38 non-refundable is subtracted.
March 16 – March 31 – 25% refund after $38 non-refundable is subtracted.
After March 31 – No refund.


Participants who sustain an injury prior to the start of the season will only be granted a refund with supporting documentation from a physician. If documentation from a physician is not provided, no refund will be given. Any injury that occurs during the season does not qualify for a refund of any amount.

Overview of Recreational Offerings

5U and 6U
These are non-competitive, coach-pitch divisions that will use a tee when needed. This league emphasizes teaching the fundamentals of the game of baseball in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. EVERY participant of this division will receive a season-end award. Players in this division do not need to attend evaluations.

8U – 12U
Each age group (8U, 10U, 12U) will be broken down into the following divisions:

Red: This is the most competitive division involving the higher skilled players. Players in this division will be determined by a draft of coaches in this division.

White: A highly competitive division with players determined by a draft of coaches in this division. 

Blue: A competitive league for players not drafted into the Red or White Divisions. Rules for this divisions are designed to highly promote the development of players, in a relaxed environment.

If your child is in one of these divisions this spring and has never played in that division before in a spring season, they will need to attend evaluations. Please sign-up for one evaluation slot using the SignUp Genius for one of these three dates:


Second-year players in the 8U, 10U, or 12U divisions do not need to attend evaluations. If your player has only played in the fall in 8U, 10U, or 12U, they need to attend spring evaluations.

14U  
This is a competitive, instructional league geared toward the older age groups. Players in this league will be determined by a draft of coaches in this league based off player evaluations. Awards will be given to the first and second place finishers in the end-of-the-season tournament for each division. An All-Star team will  be selected within each division, as the interest exists. Players in this division do not need to attend evaluations.

High School
This is a competitive, instructional league geared toward the high school players. Players in this division do not need to attend evaluations.

When is Spring baseball season?
Spring season runs from late March thru early/late June depending on the league. Opening Day at Billericay Park is scheduled for April 26th, 2025.

Evaluation required for first-year spring players:

The league will use data received from coaches in past seasons to ensure balanced teams.

What equipment do I need?

Each player must have their own baseball glove, baseball cleats and baseball pants. The league will provide bats, helmets, baseballs and first aid kits. Players are welcome to use their own bat and helmet. A baseball jersey, hat, and socks are included with your registration fee.

Effective spring 2021, any USA Certified Bat may be used in rec league play. USSSA Bats are not allowed for use in rec league play. A link to approved bats which may be used in rec league game play can be found here.

What is the time commitment?
In general, your team will meet 2-3 times per week, including a weekday or two and Saturday. Games run 60-120 minutes depending on age group. Your coach may hold optional practices during the week as schedules allow and as fields are available.

Do you offer travel baseball?
Yes! We offer travel baseball for ages 7U through 14U. Tryouts are generally held in July. For more information, please see the travel information packet.
