FAQ's

Welcome to Mudsock Youth Baseball!

Here are some commonly asked questions about the 2022 season that parents will find helpful.  If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to your league commissioner, which can be found on the website dropdown tab under “Rec Baseball.” Thank you for being part of our league. It’s going to be a great season!

When will I find out what team my participant is on?
Families should expect to hear from their player's coach by the week of March 28th, prior to spring break.

How are teams selected?
For Pre-K and K, teams are assigned by the commissioner. For all other leagues, players are evaluated during January and February and are entered into a league’s draft. Each head coach then selects his or her team based on personal history and evaluation results.

When is Spring baseball season?
Spring season runs from late March thru early/late June depending on the league.

Do I need to attend Spring evaluations?
The leagues are divided into 3 categories: Red, White, and Blue. Athletes will be placed in divisions according to skill level and the number of divisions may vary each year and by age group. To be considered  for Red or White, you must attend evaluations. If you choose not to evaluate, you will be placed in Blue.

Evaluations will take place in January and February. A link with specific dates and times will be posted here soon.

What equipment do I need?
Baseball glove, baseball cleats, baseball pants. The league will provide bats, if you do not have one, helmets, baseballs and first aid kits. Baseball jersey, cap and socks are included with your registration fee.

Effective spring 2021, any USA Certified Bat may be used in rec league play. USSSA Bats are not allowed for use in rec league play. A link to approved bats which may be used in rec league game play can be found here.

What is the time commitment?

In general, your team will meet twice a week, usually a weekday and Saturday.

Do you offer travel baseball?

Yes! We offer travel baseball for grades 1-8. Our teams are known as the Fishers Express. Tryouts for 7U-14U are generally held in August. For more information, please see the travel section of our site.
